Nourish Our Neighbors: Local Drives Making a Difference
As we continue through this season of gratitude, it’s heartening to see how many people are finding ways to show up for others. Collective care doesn’t always mean grand gestures—it’s the small, steady acts of kindness that create the greatest impact. Below are a few ways you can help support our community.
La Paloma in Tacoma is hosting a community-led food drive to support several local families in need. The drive runs now through November 25, Thursday through Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM, at their shop located at 3001 6th Ave, Tacoma, WA 98406. They’re currently seeking donations of tea, honey, fish, snacks, nuts, canned food, grains and legumes, vegetables, fruit, gas cards, and food cards. If you’d like to contribute, you can DM them HERE, email lapalomatacoma@gmail.com, or simply drop off donations during shop hours. Every contribution—no matter the size—helps bring nourishment and comfort to local families this season.
Spoonfed Training in Tukwila is hosting a food and gift drive to support community members in need this season. They’re collecting non-perishable food items, grocery store gift cards, and restaurant gift cards—preferably from small, locally owned businesses. Donations can be dropped off Monday through Thursday from 6 AM to 7:30 PM, Friday from 6 AM to 4 PM, and Saturday from 8 AM to 4 PM at Spoonfed Training, located at 708 Industry Drive, Tukwila, WA 98188. Every contribution helps make the season a little brighter for local families.
Nurture Well Center in Shoreline is collecting a variety of food, non-food, and seasonal items to support local families in need. Their most-needed food donations include canned meats, healthy cereal and oats, grains, soups and broths, shelf-stable non-dairy milk, and cooking oils. They are also seeking non-food essentials such as baby items, adult briefs, and paper goods. Seasonal items like baking supplies, spices, and nuts are also appreciated. For the full list and specifics of items needed, please check HERE. If you’re a patient of Dr. Margaret Towolawi, MD, donations can be dropped off during your appointment visit.

Movement Snack: Long Spinal Twist
Sit tall with legs extended. Bend your right knee and place your foot outside your left thigh. Inhale to lengthen your spine; exhale to twist right, pressing your left elbow to the outside of your knee and placing your right hand behind you. Keep shoulders relaxed and gaze soft. With each breath, lengthen on the inhale and deepen the twist on the exhale. Hold for 5–10 breaths, then switch sides to release tension and restore balance. Follow us for more movement snacks HERE!
