Honoring Freedom, Power & Healing

This week we honor Juneteenth—the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas were finally informed of their freedom.

For us at Indigo Movement, this day is more than history—it's a celebration of Black resilience, a recognition of ancestral strength, and a call to action for healing and liberation. As a Black, Queer, Woman-owned space rooted in care, we know that wellness is resistance. Every breath, every stretch, every moment of stillness is part of reclaiming our bodies and our power.

Whether you’re resting, dancing, journaling, or gathering in community—know that you are seen, loved, and supported.

This Juneteenth, we invite you to move in freedom. Below are some upcoming Juneteenth celebrations around Seattle and the surrounding area.
